Here is what some visitors to Black Bull Caravan Park, had to say about us

Stayed here mid week, 3 night stay. Lovely level grass and gravel pitches, plenty of space for the caravan, awning and car parking on your pitch. Water points were in good supply throughout the site. Owners were welcoming and gave me a quick guide of where everything was. Lovely little play area for children and a great games room with air hockey, pool tables and football game. The room also has a vending machine for a few treats. The Black Bull Public House is virtually on the site and serves a good pub menu. Children and dogs welcome. Toilet and shower facilities were spotless and the pot washing facilities looked good for campers. Off the main road to Malton and so has the advantage of being very central for all the attractions in the area. All in all a great little site for getting out and about from.Uk Campsite, May 2013
Just returned from the Easter weekend break at this campsite. Although relatively new to camping, this is the best site we have stayed at. The owners were very welcoming and had time to chat whenever you were passing.
Brilliant site, excellent pitches, excellent showers and toilets, friendly and helpful, small shop on site, games room, 150m long dog walking lane attached, good pub with cask ales and good food at reasonable prices just at the entrance to the site. Easy walking distance to Pickering with the steam railway, castle, lots of shops and pubs. Good base for touring the area and quite close to Flamingo Land. Really well appointed site, will certainly visit again.Uk Campsite, April 2013
The pitches are flat and very spacious. The whole site is clean and tidy and the shower block, washing facilities are spotless. We were happy to let our ten year old roam around the site and he kept himself busy playing on the park, in the games room or on the football pitch. Always had warm water for showers and washing up and the reception shop came in handy from time to time. Prices in the shop (as well as the vending machine in the games room) were cheap compared to other sites I have stayed at. You can also order newspapers in the shop. There is a pub (Black Bull) at the entrance to the site which do great meals and welcome families and pets.
A local Fish and Chip van comes to the site on Saturday and Monday evenings which was good. A few minutes drive into nearby town of Pickering where you can catch the steam train to whitby. Local attractions (Flamingo land, Eden Camp etc) are about 10-15mins drive, with Scarborough being about 30mins away.
All in all an excellent weekend break even though the weather was probably coldest Easter on record. We didn’t let this put a downer on things. Have booked to return in May.Uk Campsite, March 2013
We stayed at Black Bull caravan site between the 14th and 19th march 2013 and would like to say how much we enjoyed our stay. Although the weather did it’s best to make us feel unwelcome the owners certainly didn’t. We were greeted warmly at reception and we couldn’t believe the size of our pitch, our motorhome looked lost on it!
The owners were always on hand to offer help and advise, I would suggest any motorhome owners looking for a site on the edge of the Yorkshire moors to give this site a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
The shower blocks are a good size and spotlessly clean, and there are washing machines and dryers on hand which was handy for us because drying towels in the weather we had was impossible!
Pickering is about a 30 minute walk away and there is a bus stop right outside the site which allowed us a visit to whitby. The road into Pickering has twin BP petrol stations either side of the road, which means you can drive there to fill up and come straight back without having to negotiate any town traffic, always a bonus.
All in all I would highly recommend this site, it has a lot going for it. Nice owners, good pitches, good location and a pub virtually on site. We moved on to another site after the Black Bull but it wasn’t the same, some sites just ‘feel’ right and the Black Bull was one those sites for us at least. Give it a try and see if you feel the same.Uk Campsite, March 2013
This was our first visit to the site, we stayed for 3 weeks and have had a fab time; the site is within easy reach of Scarborough, Whitby, York and loads of lovely villages. Pickering is about a 20 minute walk and has some lovely shops and pubs. The site itself is well maintained, clean toilets and showers, a small shop selling essentials (Morrisons and Asda just up road in Malton), and a games room and a children’s playground, which we could not get our granddaughter off. The pitches are massive, easy big enough for 2 units so you have plenty of space to spread out. There is a pub at the entrance to the site.
We will definitely be going back.Uk Campsite, August 2012
3rd visit here and will certainly be back again. Warm welcome, large well maintained pitches, clean modern washrooms plus good games room and play field. Small shop selling most of what you would need. Would recommend for anyone. Very handy for Flamingo land, Pickering, Dalby Forest, and steam railway. Lots of local things to see and do.Uk Campsite, July 2012
We had a fantastic stay here at the end of jubilee weekend and over the following week. The owners were very nice and helpful when our electric hook up cable was too short. The pitches were spacious and relatively dry considering the huge amount of rain we had. Showers were brilliant, toilets very clean and smelt nice (for a change 🙂 ) it has a brilliant playground for the kids which was relatively modern and in good shape. It has possibly the smallest shop I have ever seen – this is no bad thing as it still amazingly has everything you could need from BBQ’s to ping pong balls to cereal to milk, burgers tampons and deodorant! Ideal for kids of all ages – including me and my kids. All in all a fantastic site – we will definitely be using it again!Uk Campsite, June 2012
Very family friendly, with helpful staff, a small shop for essentials, ice-creams, etc. And a nice play area for small children which our children enjoyed. Showers and washing-up area were clean and sufficient, close to Pickering (with co-op, chippy, etc.) and other small villages. We would definitely stay here again.UK Campsite, May 2010
The pitch was very spacious and flat and our large tent, car and trailer had plenty of room to fit on. The boys really enjoyed the large field as it had football nets. The games room was really good with table tennis, pool, vending machines leather settees, TV and a very convenient change machine.UK Campsite, May 2010
Owners were very helpful on arrival, showed us to our pitch which was very spacious, and showed me best way to pitch to make the most of the space. Owner pointed me in the direction of all the amenities and advised of opening times, location of water, toilets etc. Possibly the most helpful site owner I have ever come across.UK Campsite, May 2010
We went here over Easter as part of a block family booking, two caravans and one motorhome. The owners ensured that we were all together, and even managed to squeeze in a friend with a last minute cancellation. The owners were helpful and friendly, and gave a guided tour of the park to point out the featuresUK Campsite, April 2010
We have just returned from this site and will definitely be returning. Toilets immaculate loads of room to shower with your little ones which was great. Staff very friendly. We forgot our gas bottle and they were kind enough to loan us one. Play area and games room were good for the kids.UK Campsite, September 2009
Just to endorse what others have reported – generous pitches, super washroom etc facilities, warm welcome, well run site. We liked the fact that there was no extra charge for freezing the cool-blocks.UK Campsite, June 2009
We stayed here 12- 14 June and this is a brilliant campsite. Clean facilities. Playground and games room for kids that was well used! very good pricing for tent pitches. Lots to do in and around Pickering. Well recommended.UK Campsite, June 2009
First visit to black bull but it wont be our last. Lovely campsite 25m walk from Pickering although the black pull pub is just at entrance to site so not far to go for a pint or a lovely bar meal. We had a tent pitch with ehu which was very spacious and very flat separated by small bushes so felt very privateUK Campsite, June 2009
The Toilets & Showers were always clean with plenty of hot water, the washing area also was kept neat and tidy. Check-in was smooth, the pitches are large and could easily accommodate our tents with plenty of space. Childrens Play, Games Room and Ball field were all well used by our childrenUK Campsite, May 2009
Pickering is a lovely Yorkshire town with good shopping / pubs. The Steam Railway is great & takes you into Heartbeat country. The Dalby forest is not far & we went into Scarborough on the Sunday. Great area for walking with great little villages around every corner. Love this site & area!UK Campsite, May 2008
